Zhaoyan Pan

Landscape Designer

Pan’s interest in the landscape stems from childhood experiences visiting classical Chinese gardens, and a tour of contemporary and classical landscapes across Italy. He received his BA from South China University of Technology, and his Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia, both in Landscape Architecture. Pan pursues the creation of landscapes and gardens alike in a way that embraces the complexity and subtlety of urban revitalization, as well as the human bodily experience, bringing together different fragments of history, culture and memory. As a staff designer at Starr Whitehouse, Pan supports the team in all aspects of project work, from schematic design through construction documentation. While not in the studio, Pan enjoys tennis, climbing, sketching and exploring the city.
